Cleaning and Discovering

Crystals and stones everywhere,
just all of them covered in dirt!

With the new moon approaching, I get ready to set my goals for the month.  Whether it is goals of domestic duties, spiritual growth or career based, I just know it is time to assess and make those goals.

But this TIME… with the weather incredible warm and sunny in Fort Collins for a few days, I just think how much closer it is getting to spring time! When the snow starts melting at the top of the hills, it is about time to start spending the weekends back at Red Sage Mine.

In the meantime, the spring season- like weather also makes it a pretty pleasant time exploring and cleaning all our crystals from last season.  Specimens spend time out doors to get cleaned and ready.  With just some rain and snow showers, so many new crystals are popping out of layers of iron enriched soil and debris.  We leave those guys outside to capture the whole cleaning with the aid of the outdoor season change above ground.

Indoors we have buckets of stones collected from the Summer 2010.  Specimens of all sorts of different sizes, color, terminations, history and mineral content show up in buckets that have spent weeks soaking.  Each handful offers another warm “welcome” to the stones as they appear out from the earth.  Most of them you remember when they were discovered and the sudden re- acquaintance leaves such a delightful feeling as if you just of ran into a long lost best friend, or cousin.  I am so grateful for our “in door” mining and can’t wait to see what we uncover.

Red Sage Crystal Debut with Dana Shino and The Purple Phoenix

We are so excited to share some of the great Red Sage Quartz Crystals!

Dana Shino, of The Purple Phoenix - Spiritual Coach, author - extraordinaire, has a few specimens available via her website http://www.thepurplephoenix.com/crystals-for-sale/

There are 15 specimens listed, all with a fantastic mini readings, giving a great description of the stone.  Dana offers just the specimen, or a package deal of the specimen and a wonderful crystal reading.

Knowing that these crystals are going to a great home and are out there to help educate and heal is such great news for Zane and I! We couldn't be happier in knowing that these little guys are making their next step.

Dana is a fantastic lady, and I am a big fan of her work, it is worth checking out!

Why is this song in my HEAD?!

Why songs stuck in your head are kinda similar to the need to have a certain crystal/ mineral in your possession.

So, I have been thinking about this over and over again all season.  Why do I want to hear the same song over and over and over again? It’s a little…  neurotic.

I am a lover of music, and my present “day” job had me surrounded by music of all types all the time.  Regardless of the constant change in the music around me, I will play the same song every morning for 2 months… and sometimes after work, and again in the car.

The funny part is, I can still manage to never learn the words to the song!

Well, sometime, long ago I heard this theory on why songs get stuck in peoples head and I can’t stop thinking about it.  I am not sure who’s theory it is, of even if there is a legitimate one… but its pretty interesting so,  here it goes! Oh, and I am only telling the basics, not at all getting into the massive and amazing details of science , religions, beliefs and healing.
It all begins with vibration.

We all vibrate, everything does.  Music is essential vibration.  Distorted and manipulated vibrations of sound, that when combined and combed together, creates art and beauty.  Vibrations are created and sent out as sound waves and you hear it.  You experience a musical song vibration.

As a human, we vibrate at different level.  In chakras, each chakra has a different vibration, sound and even tone.  ( ie. Crystal bowels, Tibetan bowels) In chakra healing, you treat you chakra with the vibration that is in need or less of more of that vibration, to help create a balance.

With all this said, a song stuck in your head, is a way of your body telling you that you need more of a tonal vibration to feel good. You listen to it, and it makes you feel good. Why? Because you chakras need that vibration to become more balanced and feel good.  Much like how crystals and stones helps you heal and balance too!
Oh yeah, there is this article too that explains how good music makes your brain release dopamine too.

Some things to just LOVE about minerals

Oh man! Its been a little longer than I wanted since the last entry!

But don’t worry, I’m getting’ back in the hang of it, especially with the help of this fantastic energetic time going on right now.

Stones, Minerals, Crystals, and why we love them!
Something I love about stones is the fact that you can look at the same stone everyday for years and STILL manage to find some new characteristic of the stone that somehow makes it even more “cool.”
It always surprises me!

It brings a smile to my face even when I’m feeling down.
It can actually make my entire day!
There is something magical in crystals that do that to people.

I feel it happen in beautiful stone jewelry, crystal specimens, and nature herself.

During these winter months, it’s a challenge changing our schedule to stay indoors and in town, instead of spending each weekend up high diggin' in the earth.

With the mine covered with snow and inaccessible, looking around in our home at our collection is a valued highlight in the day.

Recently, we were lucky to stop at a Gem show in Longmont, CO . It was fantastic for a rock lover!

With getting over 12 mineral specimens, we came home with a bunch of new stones.

One particular stone is a new favorite in our household.   A piece of purple Fluorite from Colorado!  A specimen that is found in a place where such fluorite is not normally found is a rare and beautiful sight! ( Thank you Joe and Glacier Peaks Mining!)

What means even more to me is that it is LOCAL!
It was found by people who we know and unearthed in a place not far from home.
That’s means so much.
The work, time and effort that it takes to unearth these soft, gentle minerals is astounding.  The hard, intensive work can be time consuming.
One wrong move can harm a rare mineral specimen.
That is why I am so grateful, and truly appreciate local minerals and the people who make them available to us.

Faden Quartz

Faden Quartz is a beautiful specimen of quartz that shows how the environment can directly effect the way a specimen grows.

As winter is beginning to sneak into our lives, it is hard not to notice the changes in the weather, life and emotions.

Faden quartz is a mineral that has gone through constant changes and healing, causing a unique, yet beautiful scar for its appearance.

Is quartz that grows in a more unique style than other quartz.

The name originates from the German word, “Fadenquaz.”  This refers to the white line or “thread” that is formed in the middle of the specimen.

Found in metamorphic formations, the “thread” is formed when there is a crack in the main host rock that slowly grows.  Creating a tabular, double terminated crystals, the growing process can fracture and create a cycle of re-growth and self healing. The faden is then created by the process, leaving a gas/liquid “thread.”

Metaphysically, the stone helps one get the strength and energy to go through personal, spiritual changes and improvement, while adapting positively through out the process.  It is through the patience and persistence of positive love and light that leads the growth.
